PGS is used to detect  chromosomal  abnormalities and chromosomal rearrangements (translocations, inversions, deletions, etc.) and to test the number of chromosomes. This is also known as aneuploidy screening. PGS is recommended for parents whose genes are known or presumed to be chromosomally abnormal.
